Alternatives to online lessons in distance education
1. Prepare your study material for the students. You can either use an EduPage presentation, a PowerPoint presentation, a youtube video, a PDF file etc.
2. Assign the study material to the students.
3. The students can study the assigned presentation/material - preferably during the lesson. If a student cannot attend the lesson for any reason (several siblings sharing one computer, unstable internet connection etc.), they can study the material later.
4. It is important to incorporate follow-up questions into the study material. You can either use the EduPage questions automatically evaluated by the system, or pose an open question. The students can upload their solution to the open question.
5. The teacher will see if the student did the homework and studied the material. If the student studied the material and answered the questions correctly, you can consider it as attendance in a lesson.
The advantage of this attitude is that you can assign more difficult questions to advanced students. They do not have to wait for the rest of the students who need more time for solving the assignment. What is more, the students can go over the study material again, if needed.
You can still use individual online consultations either via chat or via online lesson for students who need it.
